April 5 - Got Wildlife?  Encourage beneficial wildlife species and get tips on handling nuisance critters with a special section on fencing options.  You Say "potato," I Say patattah”  Join the Cooks’ Garden team for information on potato planting

May 3 - Pollinator Friendly Gardening  Our pollinators are struggling – learn tips to attract and keep critical pollinators in your yard.  Compost It!  Learn from our Master Gardener “Compost Kings” about the best way to set up, maintain and use compost in your landscape.  Special report on the Emerald Ash Borer.  Master Gardener plant sale!  Proceeds benefit the Teaching Garden.  Seasonal Solutions  The Cooks’ Garden Team will share seasonal secrets for growing organic vegetables.

June 7 - Master Gardeners’ Favorite Plants  Everybody has a favorite plant.  Let Master Gardeners introduce you to some new and old favorites. Pruning - Clip It Right!  June is the time for pruning azaleas and other spring blooming shrubs. We will teach you what you need to know about these beloved landscape plants. Making the right cuts for the right reason at the right place and the right time results in abundant blooms next spring.  Join us for a lecture and demonstration.  Seasonal Solutions  The Cooks’ Garden Team will share seasonal secrets for growing organic vegetables.

July 12 - Simple ways to use water wisely in your landscape.  Learn how plants use water, tips on  rain barrels, proper irrigation &  best practices for utilizing water more effectively . The Fall Vegetable Garden  The Cooks’ Garden team will share tips for planting the Fall vegetable garden & extending the seasons.

August 2 - The Frugal Gardener  How to garden on a shoestring budget, get the most from your dollar by dividing plants, saving seeds and other smart ideas from Master Gardener Volunteers.  Seasonal Solutions   Join the Cooks’ Garden Volunteers for some seasonal tips for the organic vegetable garden

September 6 - Weeds, Soil Health and Cover Crops  Learn from VCE Staff & Master Gardener Volunteers how to improve your soil, identify weeds and use cover crops effectively.

October 4 - Tree identification  Join ISA Certified Arborist, Rachel Habig, for a class on Tree identification from 9 – 11:30 am.  Storing homegrown produce The Cooks’ Garden Volunteers will give you tips for storing your homegrown produce from 11:30 - 12 noon.
