Altruistic Writers Welcome New Author

Writers for a Cause, a group of writers who donate proceeds to charities and non-profits, welcomes Patrice Tartt, author of the forthcoming novel Wounds of Deception.

Tartt says she is “a hybrid of resiliency and passion topped off with cherry-on-top ambition.” As a graduate of both Fisk University (B.A. in Psychology) and Trevecca Nazarene University (M.S. in Management), Tartt says she has “always been motivated to reach higher levels while simultaneously motivating others to do the same.”

After dealing with the unexpected death of her father in 2011, Tartt was led to seek therapy through writing. Unknowingly, Tartt’s therapeutic writing sessions led to the completion of her debut novel Wounds of Deception, which allowed her to tell a tangled story of hurt, anger and confusion while also healing.

Tartt says about her father, who died of amyloidosis, “He was not aware that he had it, and by the time he found out, he would have probably had it up to 10 years, give or take. My book mentions the disease to bring awareness, and I feel that it is my mission to advocate.”

Because Tartt’s father died of amyloidosis, she has chosen to donate proceeds to the Amyloidosis Foundation, which aims to “to increase education and awareness of amyloidosis within the community leading to earlier diagnosis and improved treatment.”

According to the Foundation,

Amyloidosis is a group of diseases in which one or more organ systems in the body accumulate deposits of abnormal proteins known as amyloid. The name “amyloidosis” was first used more than 150 years ago, but cases were described over 300 years ago. However, only within the past 25 years have physicians understood the specific make-up and structure of amyloid proteins. Although amyloidosis is not cancer, it is very serious. It is disabling or life threatening.

Tartt is also an avid blogger who “has a desire to educate and entertain through her writing, discussing seldom talked about topics like family betrayal, health issues, and the aftermath of pain, all with a creative twist.”

Tartt is extending an open invitation to her book launch party:
